I never had lessons until later in high school in my hometown in southeast Idaho. Even then, I never had any formal training, I was self-taught. I didn't start taking private painting lessons until I was a senior in high school. I found Doyle Hall, and he introduced me to oil painting. I was his student for a couple of years and then I started painting on my own. About 10 years after that, I decided to take more painting lessons, except this time it was from Will Stork, who lived in Idaho Falls, but he was painting in acrylic instead of oil. I learned his trick with acrylic and I've loved it ever since. I painted with him for about three years and then I had to find another teacher after moving to Utah. My new teacher was Marilyn Heed, and she taught me lots of great techniques that help me today. I took lessons from her for about three more years. Then she moved away as well. My art teacher today is Arlo Johnson. He is a specialist in all areas. He is extremely good in mixing colors and lets me know all the latest techniques about any painting endeavor I would like to try. He can teach a student so much in just one lesson that it is incredible how far my art has come under his instruction. I would recommend him to anyone who wanted to learn about art. I paint my pictures as an idealist. I want to paint as if we were in a perfect place. I want people to know God through my artwork today. I want to make pictures look better than they do in real life because the best is yet to come. I can paint animals, scenery, and people. Click Here For Amy's Art Policy
